Battling this lifelong demon wasn’t an easy task. I had attempted it many times and failed, I had given up indulging furthermore in my cravings.  Every gym I had been to in the West Island had left me feeling intimidated and unmotivated. All of them made me feel like I was being observed under a magnifying glass and scrutinized because I did not fit in the fake social scene these places where projecting. It seemed to me that it was more about who looked the best, who could lift more than about an actual lifestyle change. I disliked the atmosphere they had to offer. I was extremely discouraged and abandoned going to the gym all together. In this period of time I just kept gaining more and more weight, I had reached 216 pounds at the age of 22, the heaviest I had ever been in my life. Having a history of diabetes on my mother side of the family, I was becoming more at risk. In March 2013, my dad who had always been encouraging and pushing me to change my lifestyle in order to adopt a healthier one was extremely worried about me so he transferred the rest of his membership from Lattitude, this quaint little gym I had passed a million times, but never really noticed. Although I only began going in august 2013, I instantly fell in love with it instantly and barely missed a day ever since. I was taken by the atmosphere, the privacy and the coziness it had to offer, it made me feel at home. I then realized how important an atmosphere becomes in motivating weight loss and fitness. Less than a year later, I am proud to say that I was able to shed 50 pounds and come down to 165 pounds which is in my health range seeing as how  I am almost 5’9. Thanks to Lattitude Fitness, the convenience of its proximity to my house and the privacy it was able to offer I was able to win the war with this monster I had been fighting against for years. It’s been a long and painful journey, but I can assure you its well worth it, I feel like I have for the first time in my life complete control and I can do anything I put my mind to. If I can do it anyone can, YES even YOU. You can be that girl or boy who changed their whole life around whatever your fitness goal may be. You have to find the right gym and I truly believe that Lattitude fitness is that second home you need to make you fitness dreams come true. With an inviting atmosphere, friendly staff and certified trainers you’ll feel part of the Lattitude family. From member turned to staff I am so honored to work and represent the gym that not only changed but in a way saved my life.

Thank you Baba for never giving up on me and trying to help me, even when I refused your help and made you feel guilty for it. My greatest inspiration, I love you.
